Seedling is an exciting new audio installation by Northampton artist Helen Crevel focused on potential motherhood, environmental responsibility and consumerism. As you wander around Grosvenor Centre, Northampton, we invite you to take the time to stop and reflect; to consider the changes you would like to see in the world, and to ask yourself 'How do we live with hope?'
The audio installation seeks to provoke conversation around motherhood and the environment, connecting them to our geographical and cultural heritage, and family legacies. The installation will be housed in a specially designed space in the Grosvenor Centre in Northampton – its dome-like shape will be covered in textiles and fabrics, while the inside will be more like a domestic space, like stepping into someone’s home.
25 - 30 May 2021
What to expect
Come and visit us in the unit next to Primark on the upper mall within the Grosvenor Centre, enter our dome-like home and listen to our 12 minute story. Afterwards, once you leave the dome, we'd love you to stay with us in the unit to relax, reflect and have a chat.
Please book a 30 minute slot for you to experience our installation. The audio piece itself will take 12 minutes. There will be two pairs of headphones in the dome for you to use so each slot will enable a solo or pair of listeners to enter.
You may, of course, book for yourself to come alone, or if you are bringing a partner we just ask that you bring someone who is in your bubble.
We will be following all government guidelines for COVID-19 safety and are coating all surfaces with ZOONO anti-microbial surface shield in addition to cleaning surfaces between each slot.
Access
The final piece will be made accessible, with a BSL video version and a written version on site and available digitally, audio description, social story and companion pack materials available and will have wheelchair access.
